All of the senior or graduation pictures are a nice memory of the high school and college age that everyone wants to go well because these will remain forever in the yearbooks. In the days of old, photographs had very few senior picture ideas so photos of this moment of passing to adulthood were summarized to a simply and formal portrait of the graduates.

These days, the market of graduation events has grown significantly so photographers come up with many senior picture ideas for gaining their clients satisfaction. Still, a good graduation picture doesn’t depend only on the job of the one who takes the picture, but it depends on the photographed person too. Consequently, there are a few things to consider when senior picture time approaches. Firstly, when taking a senior picture, a nice idea is to be yourself in the picture because it should reflect your true personality. Try poses that you are comfortable with, you can even move around if you feel so, you can look directly to the camera, or you can pretend you don’t see the camera while picking some flowers or playing with your hair.

Some examples

So, the attitude is extremely important and makes a difference between graduates.

Another important thing for a senior picture to be the greatest is to select a good photographer that is known for being deep involved in the job it does and for offering a quality time for its clients to have the best immortalization of this moment. A good idea for a senior picture would be to choose the photographer according to your style and tastes, because if you are more of a conservative person but the photographer is inclined to fashion photography for example, the result could be disastrous. Moreover, selecting the photographer that everyone does could end up in similar pictures without a drop of originality. The location could add a little originality to your picture too because you get many ideas from many sceneries that may be held outside or inside of a room.

The classroom or the schoolyard or even the places where you spent the most of the time with your friends. The last good senior picture idea would be to pay attention to your outfit. It must be prepared in advanced and for better results neutral or earthy colors like black, white, gray, lemon, violet, green, mauve, maroon and even teal are preferred even though a more colored outfit isn’t wrong if it fits your personality. The style of your clothes should be decent and the selection can range from casual and formal way of getting dressed for the senior picture. Accessories are to be moderated because these can bother you while trying a pose. In conclusion, if someone takes in consideration all these great senior pictures ideas, his photography in the yearbook should be perfect.
Following the tips described above will ensure an unique senior picture of your personality and will emphasize the greatest features that you possess in your youth age.

How to take great senior pictures

by admin on 01/31/2012

Photography is one of the trickiest tasks that so many dismiss as difficult. However, results have indicated that not everyone who knows to hold a camera and take a snapshot delivers great senior pictures. Taking photographs is in fact not just about grabbing the camera and taking shots at whatever object is close to you, this will not help in taking creative senior pictures. On the contrary though, it requires some degree of professionalism and hence the reasons why people even pay a lot of money to study photography. There some fine details when left out can easily ruin your intended outcome on a photo shoot. Such include things like lighting, shadows, as well as the background. We will be looking at all of these one by one to determine the best way to take great pictures.
To begin with, we look at the issue to do with lighting. This is a very essential aspect in photography and need to be taken seriously when focusing on creative senior pictures. Remember that it is the light that helps in identification of an object and if absent, then this could lead to bad results. If you are taking photos in broad daylight, then you need not put the flash on. This is because there is already enough light that can help identify the object to the finest of details. However, in case you are taking photos in dark or perhaps in the evening and it happens that the lighting is not good enough, then the best thing would be to put flash on so as to come up with some great senior pictures.

The second thing to look at in talking great senior pictures is the issue to do with the shadows. Every object has a shadow and this does not just disappear like that during photography. The fact is, some photos are great with the shadow well viewable such as this of nature while others look fantastic with a diminished shadow or with no shadow at all. All these call for different measures to be taken under different circumstances. One of the ways of dealing with the ones that don’t need the shadow is editing the photograph in soft copy after the snapshot to remove the shadow by using editing software. On the other hand, whenever the shadow is so necessary, the best way to deal with this is to take the photo standing on a perpendicular direction to the direction of lighting or the sun for that matter; for instance, facing north or south for the case of sun. Sounds like a way of coming up with creative senior pictures, doesn’t it?

Last but not the least creative senior pictures require creative integration of the photographed image with the background. It is pretty obvious that some people tend to ignore the impact of the background on the expected photograph which in turn proves them wrong. The background can also be used to create some kind of a meaning in the photograph. For example; taking a photograph of a senior guy grazing animals requires that the background be green and with some grass, not a dry land otherwise people might think it’s a computer generated image. This will help you come up with great senior pictures.
